A Long Weekend at Wildnest Farmstay
Slow Mornings, Stunning Sunsets & Country Charm
Imagine arriving at Wildnest on a Friday afternoon, the road winding through the countryside as the sun begins to dip. The air is fresh and crisp, the landscape is quiet, and you can almost feel time slow down. You step out of the car and breathe in the peace of your surroundings. It’s the start of a long weekend, your chance to leave the rush of everyday life behind and simply be.
At Wildnest, we believe in making the most of it, balancing adventure with relaxation, indulgence with simplicity. Here’s how to spend your next long weekend in our slice of the Australian wilderness.
Friday Afternoon
Begin with a Spark.
The weekend starts in style. Light the outdoor fire and watch the flames dance, casting a cosy glow against the evening sky. Be sure to grab some supplies to make a delicious cheese platter to enjoy with a bottle of wine - what better way to savour the moment?
Step inside to the warmth of the indoor fireplace, where comfort awaits. Throw a log on the fire before bed, ensuring you stay snug and cosy as you drift off, enveloped by the sounds of the bush.
Saturday Morning
Rise & shine.
Listen for the birds greeting you with their songs as the sun begins to rise. There’s no rush. Take it slow and embrace the calm of the morning. Make yourself a hot cuppa and curl up on the lounge or sit on the balcony taking in the busyness of the morning wildlife. Wander the property at your leisure, feeling the earth beneath your feet and listening to the gentle rustling of the trees in the breeze.
When you’re ready, enjoy a relaxed breakfast, whether you’re in the mood for something light or a little more decadent. The morning is yours to savour.
Mid-Morning Adventure to Rylstone
After breakfast, set off on a short drive to Rylstone, a town bursting with charm. Be sure to stop at From the Paddock for a coffee to kick-start your adventure, then wander through the heart of the town.
Rylstone has a few surprises in store:
Sip on French-style wines at this family-owned vineyard, and feel like you’ve been transported to another world.
A treasure trove of books, homewares, and treats, where you can enjoy quiet moments browsing or find something special to take home.
29 Nine 99 Yum Cha & Tea House
A cosy spot to indulge in delicious dumplings and a taste of something a little different. Be sure to book a table as they are packed to the rafters every weekend.
Sunday Indulgence in Mudgee
Sip & Savour.
Start your Sunday with a peaceful morning, then hit the road towards Mudgee. The scenic drive along the Castlereagh Highway is a perfect lead-up to a day of winery adventures. Explore the region’s vineyards at your own pace, and enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of Mudgee’s renowned wineries.
On your way back, stop by the Capertee Pub for a casual dinner and a cold beer, a satisfying end to your day before returning to the serenity of Wildnest.
Monday Morning
One Last Moment of Stillness.
Monday morning offers a final chance to unwind. If no one’s checking in, we can usually offer a late checkout, perfect for extending the weekend just a little longer. Sleep in, sip your morning coffee slowly, and enjoy the peace. Curl up with that book you’ve been meaning to finish, letting the world outside melt away as you enjoy your final moments in this serene corner of the world.
