It Started With a Search for Stillness…
Our story
It all began with a shared love of nature and a desire to find a little pocket of paradise away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney and work life. A place where we could disconnect… so we could truly reconnect. Somewhere that left us feeling restored, recharged, and ready for whatever came next.
We found that place in 2017 when we bought our property in the Capertee Valley. From the moment we stepped onto the land, we knew it was special. It became our weekend escape, our refuge during the pandemic, and the place that always grounded us. Over time, we realised we wanted others to experience that same magic.
Then in 2020, we stumbled across another treasure — a wild, rugged stretch of Turondale, just 25 minutes outside Bathurst. It was the perfect contrast to Capertee, and we bought it with a single intention: to create an escape for people who crave total immersion in nature.
Two very different landscapes, one shared thread: both are best enjoyed as the sun dips behind the hills, the fire crackles to life, and the star-filled sky reminds you just how big and beautiful the world really is.
The Hearts Behind Wildnest
At the centre of Wildnest are two people who simply love creating spaces where others can breathe a little deeper and reconnect. Claire and Pete have spent years in the corporate world designing programs that bring people together, so they know firsthand how busy life can get — and how essential it is to pause, restore, and feed your soul.
Their passion for helping others runs deeper than Wildnest. Through their charity, Hands Across the Water, they’ve dedicated themselves to creating opportunities and support for children and communities across Thailand — a reflection of their belief in meaningful impact and human connection.
Today, they split their time between their family home in Terrigal and their beloved Capertee Valley property, always accompanied by their two English Springer Spaniels, Burton and Frankie, who take their roles as adventure guides very seriously.
Wildnest is their way of sharing a little pocket of peace with the world — a place to slow down, reconnect, and feel held by nature.
