    It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to write a novel. Maybe you want to turn your life’s work into a book. Or maybe you have a memoir waiting to be unravelled. Whatever is bubbling away, its fate isn’t sealed by chance but the action you take to get your idea out into the world.

  • Build it.

    Immerse yourself in a practical and supportive environment where you can transform your musings into a proposal document and perhaps your first chapter. Targeted workshops guide you through the structure, feedback from the group will help you overcome roadblocks and refine your voice, and dedicated writing time will allow you to focus in an inspiring setting.

  • Grow it.

    You will leave the retreat with all the tools you need to bring your book to life - a solid book proposal, a supportive network of fellow authors, and perhaps even the first few chapters written. Your hard work and dedication will give you a clear path forward to grow your idea and turn it into the book you've always dreamed of writing.

During the Writer’s Retreat, Peter will take you through a series of workshops and discussions that will help you:

  • Get clear on your desired outcome of both writing and publishing

  • Know your audience - who are you writing for

  • Moving from concept to chapters

  • Knowing when and how to write your pitch

  • Understanding the various publishing options that exist

  • Securing a contract and what that means; and

  • The all-important, how to move through writers block. 

Accommodation

  • Glamping tent at Wildnest

    Glamping

    Our self-contained luxury glamping tents provide a king-sized bed, a kitchen, and a full bathroom with a slow combustion fire. The tents feature sliding glass doors, which lead out onto your private balcony with a luxurious bath, perfect for those who enjoy such an experience. A table is also available for you to set up a writing space. There are two tents available.

  • Farmhouse at Wildnest

    Farmhouse

    There are two private rooms available in the farmhouse, each with a queen-sized bed. The bathroom and toilet are shared between you and one other guest. You can make use of the living and dining room as well as the large open fire that provides warmth during the colder months.

    Cost: $1,850 + GST

Your Hosts.

Peter and Claire are the owners of Wildnest, and they will be your hosts during your stay. Their friendly English Springer Spaniels will also be around to keep you company. 

Peter is a published author, having written three books for Pan MacMillan and Wiley. His latest book was released internationally in August 2023. He has also managed a series of publications, offering unique insights into different options. 

Claire, on the other hand, is passionate about creating unforgettable experiences for people. She loves all things events and takes pride in looking after guests. You can expect to be well taken care of during your stay, as Claire takes to the kitchen to prepare delicious home-cooked meals that are appropriate for the environment you're in.
